Examining Title, Genre, and Message

How does the title reinforce the genre and message? Be sure to add specific reasoning.

  1. The title "Monster" reinforces the genre and message because the definition of monster means evil or bad. Something that would scare you at night. But the thing is the main character Steve Harmon is not a "Monster" he is innocent man and a harmless person in this case of murder. He was just by the scene of the killing and that makes him guilty? No one knows the real truth except Steve himself. This is what makes this story a mystery.

  2. "monster" reinforces the genre and message because it's what Steve and many other people think about him. Although him being a Monster is untrue, through out the book we slowly see the good in Steve and how this title does not match him, but rather what how he feels with the area around him; people getting beaten up, crying himself to sleep and finally being blamed for something that he was not involved with.
