The title "Monster" reinforces the genre and message because the definition of monster means evil or bad. Something that would scare you at night. But the thing is the main character Steve Harmon is not a "Monster" he is innocent man and a harmless person in this case of murder. He was just by the scene of the killing and that makes him guilty? No one knows the real truth except Steve himself. This is what makes this story a mystery.
